ROAD DISCLOSURE: Bison View Lodge is nestled up a 3 mile, unpaved forest service access road with some switchbacks and bumps from water runoff. You will encounter potholes, rocks, and ruts from mountain water runoff. It is traveled daily by passenger cars, trucks, and SUV’s. We have had 30 passenger shuttle buses and construction vehicles with trailers to the lodge. (PLEASE NOTE: Amazon/FedEx/UPS does not deliver to the lodge)
This summer has brought heavier rains than normal with increased water runoff. Think of water runoff as "reverse speed bumps". Sedans, SUV's, and trucks travel this road daily, but low profile and sports cars are not recommended. We recommend keeping your speeds under 15mph and navigating indentations at an angle as you make your way up. Please take it slow and enjoy the scenery, trust us, it's worth it!
In accordance with the US Forestry Service, Bison View Lodge LLC recommends that only trucks and higher clearance vehicles (SUV’s for example) travel the road. Bison View Lodge LLC is not liable for the condition of the road and not responsible for damage to vehicles or accidents. Four wheel drive IS NOT necessary to navigate this road.
We don't recommend low-profile vehicles such as sports cars travel this road.
Reset your trip meter as you turn onto Tray Mountain Road. At 2.5 miles you should see a small waterfall on the left (harder to see in spring/summer). At 2.8 miles, the road narrows and then you will see the Entrance Gate to Bison View Lodge on your left. Enter your gate code to open the gate.
Once inside the main gate, to the left is The Helen Barn. The Main Lodge is the majestic property you see upon entering the clearing, and Hilltop Cabin is past the lodge and up the hill.
